About Us

The Strategic Literacy Initiative collaborates with researchers, teachers, foundations, schools and organizations to continuously improve our professional learning and develop new services and knowledge for the evolving needs of educators and students. Here we feature just a few of the partnerships that help keep Reading Apprenticeship relevant, feasible and effective in a wide range of diverse contexts.

3CSN is an initiative of the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office which brings professional learning to post-secondary educators. SLI works closely with 3CSN to bring Reading Apprenticeship to colleges throughout the state and beyond. Some of our joint work is highlighted in The Campaign for College Opportunity “Demonstrated Excellence” Series.

SLI partners with CCC to create coherent approaches to literacy and professional learning for K-12 school districts.

Teacher Feedback and Coaching Community of Practice sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Innovation and Improvement (OII)

This purpose of this group is to support state and local efforts to provide feedback and coaching that improves teachers’ instruction. The initiative provides an opportunity to connect with (1) state and local education agencies, (2) educator preparation programs, and (3) other organizations that are actively working to improve feedback and coaching for teachers. SLI staff are leading webinars and posting blogs and resources for this community of practice.
