Reading Apprenticeship in Michigan

Hundreds of Michigan middle school teachers will be coming together in February for a two-day winter Reading Apprenticeship professional learning experience. As part of our U.S. Department of Education SEED funded grand project called Reading Apprenticeship: Writing Connections (RAWC), teachers will meet for two days in three different locations: Petoskey, Dearborn, and Mason, MI. They will be continuing their learning in disciplinary literacy and looking closely at examples of their students’ work from the fall semester.

This is the final year of RAWC, but Michigan Reading Apprenticeship State Coordinator Bill Loyd is hard at work planning for a new SEED grant project: Reading Apprenticeship Across the Disciplines. If you are a Michigan middle school district or educator interested in Reading Apprenticeship in Summer 2016, please contact Bill Loyd at wjloyd@wested.org.
